2018 Giving Tree Vineyard Pinot Noir

Our inaugural bottling of this vineyard, we are continually learning about the great landscapes of the Willamette Valley. Located in the foothills of the Coast Range, west-facing, and in marine sedimentary Bellpine soil, this vineyard is entirely new to everything that we've done here at Argyle. The fruit moves from red to dark, with subtle spice and faint floral woven into its firm, yet polished backbone. After fermentation and gentle pressing, the wine was allowed to age elegantly on its lees for 16 months in French oak, of which 40% were new.

2018 Lone Star Vineyard Pinot Noir

Lone Star Vineyard Pinot Noir is blended from three parcels that focus on the more delicate side of the Eola-Amity Hills. These three blocks are situated at the top of the vineyard at 400 feet elevation, planted in 2002 and 2005.  Red fruit is quite fleeting in a warm, dry season like 2018, but this wine shows cherry, red raspberry, white pepper, and rose petal while  buoyed by a dense core of fresh, vibrant acidity. The wine opens with sleekness and elegance and finishes with polished, yet firm tannin. Cold soaking and fermenting in small, 1.5-ton fermenters enhances silky texture, while 10% whole cluster inclusion brings subtle, spicy length.

2017 Spirit Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

At 700 to 850 feet in elevation and awash with the Eola-Amity Hill's persistent drying winds, Spirit Hill Vineyard is always the last Pinot Noir to be picked and handled in the winery. Raspberry, marionberry, green tea, and violets flow into a silky middle palate, building structure and polished tannins through its long, energetic finish. After fermentation and gentle pressing, the wine was allowed to age elegantly on its lees for 16 months in French oak, of which 30% were new.
