Extended Tirage Brut is aged for ten years on the yeast and disgorged on demand to ensure freshness. Argyle’s Tirage Library in Dundee has sparkling wines still aging on the yeast, dating back to our first vintage in 1987.
As they do in Champagne, we create the beautiful color of this wine by the addition of fully-fermented Pinot Noir, which maintains purity of fruit and floral aromatics. The red wine component makes it a versatile food wine – even standing up to steak.
Our first official Blanc de Noirs release is predominately Pinot Noir from our Spirit Hill Vineyard, with a small amount of Pinot Meunier to bring floral freshness and lift. From an ideal sparkling vintage, this is an incredible value for Willamette Valley sparkling wine.
Black Brut has become a cult classic at Argyle. Fully pressed red wine is put under tirage for Argyle’s traditional minimum of three years. The smokiness of this wine is a lovely match with barbeque ribs.
Our founding winemaker, Rollin Soles, came to the Willamette Valley in the 1980’s to make this wine. It is the foundation on which everything at Argyle is made. The 2015 vintage has Pinot Meunier in the blend, giving it a lovely floral component.
